A Virtual London Pub Tour: tippling through London's 'liquid' history

Join us as we embark on a virtual pub ‘crawl’ across London.

On a physical tour we might visit three pubs in one area but on a virtual tour we can go everywhere and not to have to worry about stumbling into the gutter...

Our tour takes us from the East End to the West End and everywhere in between and includes some of London’s oldest & most fascinating hostelries.

Along the way we’ll learn about the fascinating history of British booze and how three very different institutions gave birth to the ‘pub’ that we know and love today.

We’ll discover the origins of phrases like ‘hair of the dog’, ’Dutch courage’ and ‘tippling’ itself and we’ll also be posing a pub quiz along the way!

The George Inn, Southwark
The George Inn, Southwark.

Highlights of the tour will include:

  • The Blind Beggar, Whitechapel: scene of a gangland murder and where an anti alcohol campaign began…..
  • The George Inn: London’s oldest surviving galleried coaching inn with links to Shakespeare and Dickens….
  • The Coach and Horses in Soho: once run by the ‘rudest landlord in Britain’ & the haunt of Soho’s bohemians including Francis Bacon

And many more….

There will be the option to stay on after the tour and join one of the breakout rooms so attendees can once again enjoy some online fellowship.

So fill up your glasses, take a seat and join us for an evening of good cheer!
