The Worshipful Company of Butchers and City Livery Events

WCB September Court Lunch 2021

The Master looks forward to welcoming all Liverymen and their guests back to the Butchers' Hall for his first (and last) all embracing Court Lunch during his 2020/21 year of office, on Friday 3rd September 2021.

We look forward to welcoming you to Butchers' Hall.

Join us for this very special day of celebration when we will return to dine at our Livery home, with all the Court Lunch familiarities that we have missed over the last 18 months.

This will be a memorable reunion at our Hall, as we all have so much to celebrate and applaud.

It will be the first opportunity that we have had to raise a glass in-person with our two newest Liverymen Andrew Duff and Lorraine Provest-Eames, who both uniquely joined our Company's history book when they were clothed into the Livery virtually via Zoom earlier this year.

We also look forward to welcoming back Geraldine Cavener, our former Assistant to the Clerk, to finally grant her the Honorary Freeman status that she should have received when she retired after 17 years service in May 2020.

Our guest speaker

We are delighted that Ian Wright CBE, Chief Executive of Food & Drink Federation, will be our first guest speaker at the Hall in 2021.

Before joining FDF in March 2015, Ian spent 14 years with Diageo plc - the world's largest drinks business. There he was the member of the executive committee responsible for the company’s reputation as it became one of the world's most trusted and respected companies. Earlier, he worked for Boots The Chemist and Mars Confectionery and had spells in consultancy and politics.

Ian chairs the Food & Drink Sector Council - the Government’s industry advisory body. He also chairs the Food & Drink Trade Association Round Table. Ian received a CBE for political and public service in August 2015.

Ian Wright CBE will be our first guest speaker of 2021

What can you look forward to?

As you would expect at a Court Lunch, there will be a drinks reception, followed by a first-class three course lunch with wine and a Stirrup cup.

As usual, the 200 Club draw and the Champagne raffle will take place at the end of the meal.

This lunch will also be a special occasion for Liveryman John Bausor, as he will very kindly be sponsoring the beef for the main course and the champagne raffle draw as part of his birthday celebration.

The Master and the Court look forward to welcoming you to Butchers' Hall on Friday 3rd September.

Booking for this event has now closed.
