Why should you sign up to the Young Meat Professionals programme?
As an Employer you can support your people by enrolling them on the Young Meat Professionals programme. Individuals subscribed to the programme will receive a structured, four-year “gate to plate” development journey that no single role or other scheme can offer. Its aim is to sustain the industry by enriching the individual—broadening understanding across farming, processing, regulation, markets and consumer insight while building confidence, public-speaking capability and commercial awareness through visits, webinars, mentoring and networking. The programme is aimed at young people under 40 who work in any department in a “meat or allied trades” company.
What does the programme offer?
The programme is designed to produce confident, well-rounded industry advocates who are excited by and want to be a part of our meat industry. These young professionals will build lasting peer and mentor networks, see the whole supply chain first-hand and gain the confidence to contribute beyond their day job. Over time, they develop the knowledge, perspective and leadership readiness to take on wider responsibilities, national roles and committee opportunities.
How does this benefit an employer?
For employers, this is a practical investment in future capability: these young people will gain stronger cross-sector insight, broader networks and a clearer sense of belonging in the industry. Enrolling them strengthens and helps retain the organisation’s talent pipeline while helping create a more connected, resilient sector—giving emerging talent the experience and relationships to grow into tomorrow’s leaders.
