The election....a historic occasion

All Liverymen who were admitted on or before 31 May 2024 are invited to attend the Guildhall on Tuesday 24th June 2025 for the Election of Sheriffs for the City of London. There is a Lunch at Butchers' Hall after the event which is available for all Liverymen and guests to book.

The annual Election of Sheriffs at Guildhall is one of the City of London's most important occasions.

As an eligible Liveryman (admitted on or after 31st May 2024) you have the right to vote and decide who takes office as Sheriff for the ensuing year.

A Sheriff is the oldest civic in the City (older than the office of the Lord Mayor itself) so your vote keeps the City traditions alive and helps to shape the future of the Square Mile.

Then Lunch...

After the formalities, we invite you to join the Master with fellow Liverymen and other Livery companies for a Lunch at Butchers' Hall, which includes a glass of prosecco on arrival, a 2-course meal, two glasses of house wine per person and tea/coffee with petit fours.

Arrive at Guildhall from 11.15am to be seated by 11.45am for the Election.

Lunch follows for those who have booked at 1.30m approx. at Butchers' Hall.

You may book for both the Election and Lunch, or for an Election Pass only. Friends, colleagues and family members are most welcome to join the lunch but will not be able to attend the elections unless they are qualifying Liverymen themselves. The lunch is available to all to book, irrespective of whether you attend the Election in the morning. Guests can have a different type of ticket to the member.
