Shallowford Farm
Shallowford Farm is a working hill farm and educational charity in Dartmoor National Park, run by the Shallowford Trust. It offers young people—particularly from urban areas—hands-on experiences of farming, food production and rural life.
Through school visits, residential stays and outreach programmes, the charity helps children understand where food comes from, learn about sustainability and animal welfare, and build confidence through outdoor learning.
With support from the Worshipful Company of Butchers, Shallowford Farm will expand its programmes, enabling more young people to engage with curriculum-based learning and initiatives such as “Farm to City,” bringing farming experiences into urban communities.
On Saturday 18th of July, Shallowford Farm celebrated their 50th birthday with a fete on the farm.
the day icluded many fun activities from competitive games to meeting the farms animals. It was also a wonderful oppourtunity for fundraising, something fundamental to The Worshipful Company Of Butchers.
The WCB attended to show our support for the charity and take part in all of the activities the Farm had to offer.
It is an honour to be affiliated with such an amazing charity.
