WCB January Court Lunch
The first Court Lunch of the new year… indeed the new decade, will be on the second Friday of January when the Master will welcome the affiliated services to Butchers' Hall with General Sir Gordon Messenger KCB DSO* OBE ADC our guest speaker.
The General joined the Royal Marines in 1983. After a range of junior officer appointments, he attended the Canadian Staff College in 1994.
Two staff jobs followed, in the UK MOD and HQ Royal Marines, before he was appointed as Chief of Staff to 3 Commando Brigade in 1999; a tour that included an operational deployment to Kosovo.
He commanded 40 Commando from 2001 to 2003, which included operational deployments to Afghanistan and Op Telic 1, the invasion of Iraq in March 2003.
The Master is also delighted to welcome Viscount Trenchard to our January Court Lunch as a special guest of the Butchers' Company.
I am sure we can look forward to a fascinating talk after we have enjoyed a wonderful three-course lunch with wine. Lunch is preceded by a Champagne reception and followed by a stirrup cup for your further enjoyment.
