600 (City of London) Squadron Royal Auxiliary Air Force Annual Centenary Dinner
Published on: 20 October 2026
On Friday 16th October once again 600 (City of London) Squadron Royal Auxiliary Air Force held their Annual Centenary Dinner at Butchers’ Hall. 600 Squadron is one of the WCB’s Affiliated military units. The dinner was attended by Deputy Master, Past Master Andrew Parker representing The Master, and myself. The Guest of Honour was Air Commadore 3rd Viscount Hugh Trenchard, whose grandfather was responsible for developing the Royal Air Force as we know it today in 1918, formerly known as The Royal Flying Corp. Their Special Guest was The Venerable Dr Air Vice Marshall Giles Legood who is the Chaplain-in-Chief and Archdeacon for the Royal Air Force and has had distinguished career.
Entertainment was provided by The Royal Air Force Salon Orchestra. At these events it is traditional to ‘dine out’ personnel leaving the Squadron and to ‘dine in’ personnel joining. Two of those who were ‘dined out’ were newly promoted Group Captain Stephen Fry and Flight Leftenant Joanne Mackowski with whom the WCB have had close associations during their time at RAF Northolt. The new Commanding Officer for 600 Squadron who will take over from Group Captain Stephen Fry is yet to be appointed. The current Acting Commander is Wing Commander Alisa Rebbeck. Two personnel from 600 Squadron will be joining the WCB in The Lord Mayors Show this year.
