An Elegant Afternoon of Fellowship and Celebration

Published on: 18 May 2026

The annual Ladies Court Lunch on 8 May was a memorable and elegant occasion, bringing together Liverymen and their guests for an afternoon of fellowship, tradition, and engaging conversation.

This year’s event featured an address from Mr Gary Langley, Consort to the Lady Mayor, Dame Susan Langley DBE, whose distinguished professional and civic experience provided guests with valuable insights into leadership, public service, and life within the City of London.

Married to Dame Susan for more than twenty years, Gary has undertaken the role of Consort since her election as Alderwoman for the Ward of Aldgate. Through this position, he has supported the Lady Mayor at numerous official and charitable engagements, becoming a familiar and respected figure within the City’s civic community.

We were also delighted to be joined by another honourable guest, Elizabeth Alexander, Companion Member.

The luncheon additionally provided an opportunity to welcome new members into the Company. We were pleased to admit Andrew Houston as a New Liveryman, and to welcome Benjamin Charles, Peter Rushforth, and James Taylor as New Freemen.

Guests enjoyed an excellent culinary experience throughout the day. Vili’s lamb and beef cocktail pies, served during the drinks reception, together with the lamb racks presented as the main course, were delicious and enjoyed by all, thanks to the generously donation by Thomas Foods.

Adding further excitement to the afternoon, the Champagne raffle was kindly sponsored by The Renter Assistant. Congratulations to Gregory Nice, the fortunate winner of the case of fine Dumenil Champagne.

The ever-popular 200 Club draw also took place during the event, with congratulations going to Liveryman Alan Healy, who secured first prize, Liveryman Stuart Hancock, who received second prize, and Liveryman Paul Kelly, winner of third prize.

The annual Ladies Court Lunch continues to uphold the strong traditions of fellowship and community that are central to the Livery movement.
