Inter Livery Clay Shoot May 2026

The Inter Livery clay shoot is the largest two day clay event in Europe with 109 teams competing this year and 436 participants, made up of livery and freeman teams. Held this year at West London Shooting Ground with a good lunch laid on afterwards.

The Worshipful Company of Butchers Gun Club fielded two teams; most had managed to meet beforehand for at least one team practise, and to form into an A and B squad. Butchers were allocated the second day shooting this year, which luckily had the better weather.

Teams were Butchers A; Richard Taylor, Nick Allen, Robert Gooch, Daniel Parker.

Butchers B; Fergus Howie, Nicholas Sherwood, Jim Gaffney, Andrew Parker.

Nick Allen was once again the top shot for our teams, he impressively shot straight enough to be placed 10th best shot from everyone over the two days, scoring 64 out of 80, winning himself the retention of the Captains Cup.

Butchers A team was placed 5th overall, Butchers B was placed 9th in the Livery teams and 12th overall as some teams were Freemen, and therefore winning the “Glorious 12th” prize. To have both teams in the Livery top 10 was very encouraging and we are keen to see improvement next year to the podium! I would be good to also field a C and D team in 2027.

The “Glorious 12th trophy was sent to Butchers Hall in early June for display over this next year, and this prize included winning £1000 for charity.

£500 was donated to Marie Carie for their wonderful caring work for those with cancer, and £500 was donated to Anthony Nolan to help find matches for stem cell transplants.

The WCB Gun Club is actively looking to expand membership, we meet throughout the year. Game shooting in the winter and clays out of season. If you are interested in joining, please contact Daniel Parker 07971 232420 to be added to our WhatsApp group.
